Dillian Whyte’s comeback will continue against unbeaten heavyweight Dave Allen on July 30, it has been confirmed.

Doncaster’s Allen (9-0-1-KO6) had previously insisted that he would not accept the opportunity on Josh Warrington’s Leeds undercard – live on Sky Sports – due to a lack of preparation, but appears to have had a change of heart.

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn, who confirmed Kell Brook v Gennady Golovkin on Friday night, tweeted: “After yesterday’s news it looks like everyone wants to fight – Leeds July 30 just got even better – @DillianWhyte v @davidthewhiter1 is on!”

Ten-fight up-and-comer Allen, 24, had previously insisted that three weeks’ notice would hand an unfair advantage to Whyte (17-1-KO14), who has been preparing for a fight on the Leeds bill.

But he tweeted: “3 weeks notice? Chin down bombs away last man standing.

“Always said if someone gave me a date and a reason to fight them I won’t shy away from anyone @DillianWhyte see you July 30th be ready.”

After Allen previously declined the opportunity due to the short notice, Whyte told Sky Sports last week: “If he doesn’t want to fight me on July 30 then he’s never going to get the chance to fight me.

“I felt sorry for the guy so I offered him the chance to launch his career by getting knocked out by me but the guy is a coward.”

The domestic heavyweight duel will serve as a step up in competition for the Brixton’s Whyte, who is coming back from a shoulder injury sustained in his sole career defeat to Anthony Joshua.

Whyte returned with a knockout win over Ivica Bacurin last month while Allen was last seen beating Jason Gavern in March.
