WWE Stable Breaking Up Soon, Lucha Underground Star Wanted to Work with WWE, No WWE Network Refunds

– Lucha Underground star King Cuerno (El Hijo del Fantasma) wanted to accept an offer to work for WWE but he’s signed to a seven-season Lucha Underground contract and the company wouldn’t release him, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He wanted out of Lucha Underground but may be back soon after returning to AAA last week.

UFC Announces Historic Event At Madison Square Garden

The UFC sent us the following today:

UFC MAKES HISTORY WITH ANNOUNCEMENT OF MAJOR EVENT AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN IN NEW YORK ON NOVEMBER 12

Second event to be announced for Upstate New York by end of 2016

Las Vegas – Following today’s landmark bill signing by Governor Andrew Cuomo to legalize and regulate professional mixed martial arts (MMA) in New York, UFC® announced that it will host a major Pay-Per-View event at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, November 12.

Additionally, UFC will be adding another live event in Upstate New York before the end of the year. The organization has pledged four events per year for the first three years after passage of the bill. The events will be held in Upstate cities such as Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Utica, and Albany, in addition to Madison Square Garden and the Barclays Center.

Today’s bill signing and event date announcements cement mixed martial arts’ incredible future in the state of New York, and reaffirm UFC’s commitment to a market that is home to many top stars including former UFC champions Jon Jones, Chris Weidman and Rashad Evans, and countless other title contenders.

“I want to thank Governor Andrew Cuomo, Assembly Majority Leader Joseph Morelle, Senator Joe Griffo and the many other leaders in the state of New York for legalizing and regulating the sport of mixed martial arts,” said UFC Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta. “Our commitment to bringing incredible live events to New York starts immediately, as we’ve planned a major Pay-Per-View event at Madison Square Garden on November 12. It’s going to be a historic, monumental moment for this sport and our passionate fans when the Octagon finally arrives in New York.”

“Today marks a great day for both MMA fans and New York,” said Joel Fisher, executive vice president, Marquee Events and Operations, The Madison Square Garden Company. “We think it’s only fitting that the first UFC event is taking place at The World’s Most Famous Arena and look forward to these world-class athletes becoming part of The Garden’s storied history.”

Further information about the upcoming live event at Madison Square Garden will be announced in the weeks to come.

Shawn Michaels Talks Not Listening To Fans About His Matches, Advice From Roddy Piper

This week on Vince Russo’s THE BRAND (PodcastOne & RELM Network), I continue the second part of my interview with Shawn Michaels, as the Heartbreak Kid opened up concerning his relationship to the audience, and who he was actually playing to. In detail Shawn, discusses what motivated him as a performer.

“I just wanted to get outside of the box,” Shawn said. “I wanted change. It was all about what I wanted to do as a performer.”

Shawn also talked about what part the audience actually played in his performance.

“I don’t listen to fans … fans listen to me. I’m the wrestler. They don’t tell me what to do. Nobody is going to tell me if my match was good – I TELL ME if my match was good!”

Shawn went on to tell me that he learned that bit of advice from the late, great Roddy Piper who instilled in him that the “follow-up” to the main event is perhaps more important than the main event itself.” Something that the WWE clearly struggles with today.

Other topics Shawn tackled were his feelings concerning the rise of the Attitude Era after his hiatus, how he feels about his career and “yesterday being gone”, being a Christian man and his brand new television show that is about to begin shooting.

Also this week on Tuesday’s Vixen’s Who Rule, Terri Runnels gets EXTREMELY intimate about making alterations to some very private parts, to surprise her husband Dustin Runnels at a TV taping in Atlantic City some 20 years ago. From there she discusses how she dealt with the passing of her Father-in-Law Dusty Rhodes–who she had an extremely rocky relationship with.

Also of note, on Wednesday’s RAW: What It Was Good For, Jason Sensation brings his cast of characters to the show including; HBK, The Undertaker, Mankind, Bret Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Owen Hart. Jason goes into detail about Owen slipping him a blood capsule–without the office’s knowledge– prior to him slapping the taste out of Jason’s mouth. He also talks of a rib that took place while he was in a bathroom stall that he, myself and Triple H played on the greatest ribber of all-time–Owen himself!

You can listen to Vince Russo’s THE BRAND on PodcastOne every day FREE Monday through Friday, while having the option of enjoying the videos on The RELM Network. All the information is at RussosBrand.com.

Audio Of Hulk Hogan's Racially Charged Rant Surfaces

Source: Death and Taxes Mag

Just a month after WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan was awarded a $115 million judgment against Gawker for releasing a sex tape without his permission, the racially-charged rant from the tape that got him fired has surfaced.

David Bixenspan and Maria Bustillos of Death and Taxes Magazine have uncovered the nearly-90 second rant, which you can hear at this link. The rant, which got Hogan fired by WWE last year, has him explaining that he’s racist ‘to a point.’

The audio is in rough shape, and some of it was redacted, but you can make out what Hogan was saying in some parts including the following quote:

“So it gets to the point where…I dunno if Brooke was f–king the black guy’s son, or they’ve been hanging out. I caught them holding hands together on the tour. They were getting close to kind of [inaudible] the f–king [inaudible]. I’m not a double standard type of guy. I’m a racist to a point, y’know, f–king n–ers, but then, when it comes to nice people and [redacted].”

He later said, “If we’re gonna f–k with n—ers, let’s get a rich one!”

Hulk Hogan fought hard for the public to not hear the tapes, which ended up having him yanked from his spot as a judge on WWE Tough Enough. The audio was recorded nine years ago when Hogan slept with then-friend Bubba Clem’s wife Heather, at the urging of Bubba.

WWE Hall Of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin recorded a number of podcasts with various WWE talents — past-and-present — during WrestleMania 32 weekend in Arlington, Texas earlier this month.

The first show to be released from Austin’s recording session at WM32 weekend this year is with longtime WWE veteran The Big Show.

Below are highlights from the interview, which you can check out in full at PodcastOne.com.

On the job Triple H is doing running NXT:

“They’re hungry and free and I think that’s the biggest thing that’s different with us [on the main roster] because I think [Triple H] does a real good job with NXT of understanding how to give these kids more time, give these kids a little more freedom on the mic, give these kids a little more freedom on their matches to go out there and get yourselves over.” Big Show added, “and that’s one of the things that I think hurts our program with the three-hour RAW. There’s so much s–t crammed in there [that] guys aren’t given a lot of time to get over. Up here, you get two weeks with something and boom, it’s gone. They’re on to something else. And that’s not a fair assessment to give anybody new that [has] come in. Nobody can get anything done in two weeks. It takes time to get things done and that’s why I’m really happy with NXT because you see these kids get a chance to get over and they build a following.”

On WWE drawing families and NXT having “hipper” crowds:

“They’re a more hip crowd.” Big Show reflected, “we have a lot of families. We have dads come in with six or seven kids, the nephews and the cousins and the sons and daughters. So we have a lot of little kids there, which is fantastic because I love them being a part of the product and I love putting on shows for them. But the fire and the energy we used to get in the Attitude Era when we were working towards that 18 to 35 crowd, that was a different energy crowd. A lot of these crowds that we have now are the younger kids because they’re so excited to be there. Now, the NXT crowd isn’t pulling the younger kids.”

On there being no more “true heels” in pro wrestling:

“The business has changed, absolutely, because here’s the thing. We structured our business so that the referee has integrity now, which I have a huge problem with. But I don’t give a s–t about the referee. I really don’t. I like when heels get heat.” Big Show elaborated, “I mean, we have a lot of kids now and they don’t understand heat. They don’t understand it. I mean, there’s the guy you’re supposed to boo. They get it, but most of our guys are supposed to be babyfaces. Bray Wyatt [has] got the coolest entrance of anybody next to maybe Undertaker, but it’s hard for him to be a heel because he cuts fantastic promos. He [has] got a cool gimmick! I mean, he’s not the prettiest guy on the planet, I get it, but he’s a hell of a worker. He [has] got snap. He [has] got fire. He cuts great promos. How do you hate a guy like that?”
