Your SO OF COURSE previews(!) of SummerSlam and Takover:Brooklyn!

In this day and age you can’t just “predict” a PPV anymore, you have to account for the capricious whims of WWE’s septuagenarian, sleep-deprived egomaniac owner. You can’t just “preview” a PPV…you have to Preview how things should go, in a reasonable and sane world, and then add “so of course…” and explain what Vince McMahon will probably do instead.

So consider this your “so of course” predictions for the most wrestling-packed weekend in the history of ever!

Ronda Rousey Trademarks Phrase, UFC Looking To Sell Out Huge Stadium, Big Heavyweight Rematch Made

– We’ve noted that Ronda Rousey‘s “Don’t be a D.N.B” shirts have exploded in sales, reaching over 53,000 in just a couple of weeks. Now Rousey has is attempting to trademark the term “D.N.B,” according to ESPN.

Both the term and the apparel have reached insane heights over the past several weeks. Although Rousey’s initial “Don’t be a DNB” line of clothing is limited edition, it’s very likely with this move, there will be much more where that came from.

– The UFC announced this week that they’ve decided to run the 56,000 seat Etihad Stadium for UFC 193 in Melbourne, Australia on November 15. A sellout would likely match or surpass the 55,724 fans for UFC 129.

The show will be headlined by a UFC Welterweight Championship Fight between title holder Robbie Lawler and top contender Carlos Condit. Michael Bisping will also be featured on the card, taking on Robert Whittaker.

Another major fight booked for the show is Mark Hunt taking on Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in a re-match of their historic 2013 bout, which ended in a draw. Silva later failed a drug test, and he was given a no-contest, while Hunt retained the draw.

8-Man Mayhem.

Three nights before the biggest SummerSlam in WWE history, the 835th edition of WWE Thursday Night SmackDown came to you from the Resch Center in Green Bay, WI. Four of the most intense rivalries on the SummerSlam card would collide in one huge main event as “The Big Dog” Roman Reigns and “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose would team with “The Swiss Superman” Cesaro and “The Viper” Randy Orton to face the team of “The New Face of Fear” Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Kevin Owens, and “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Sheamus in an epic 8-Man Tag match! Which team will pick up some crucial momentum heading into “The Biggest Event of the Summer”? Former WWE Employee Talks Vince McMahon Originally Not Being Interested In The Undertaker

Source: WOOOOO! Nation with Ric Flair

On a recent episode of WOOOOO! Nation with Ric Flair, “The Nature Boy” talked with Bruce Prichard. As the original manager of the Undertaker, Prichard, also known as Brother Love, shared some insight regarding the creation of the Undertaker gimmick.

In 1990, Paul Heyman told Prichard that the Undertaker, then working for WCW as ‘Mean’ Mark Callous, was available; however, Vince McMahon was not interested at first, saying he looked like a basketball player. According to Prichard, the Undertaker was set to meet with McMahon the night after WCW’s Great American Bash pay-per-view, where the former ‘Mean’ Mark Callous had a poor showing against Lex Luger.

“Mark had a dislocated hip, but worked the match anyway because he knew that he was going to be meeting with Vince the next day,” Prichard recalled.

“It wasn’t the best match in the world and Vince didn’t want to meet with him,” Prichard continued. “We finally got the two together, and, as you know Mark, man, he’s magnetic in and of himself and he convinced Vince that, ‘hey, I’m your guy’ and he took off from there.”

Prichard admitted that while WWE had an entire creative department at the time that designed new characters, the Undertaker gimmick only came about after getting a look at him. Apparently, the Undertaker was brought in to do the Suburban Commando movie with Hulk Hogan. The outfit he wore in the film made him look like an “old timey undertaker” and that is how the Undertaker gimmick was born. Prichard said that the original idea was to bring him in as Kane, a killer inspired by Jason from Friday the 13th, but “the Undertaker evolved and he has made it all his own.”

Flair called the Undertaker gimmick “the greatest gimmick in the world” and said that the Undertaker kept getting better and better up until a couple of years ago.

In addition to discussing the origins of the Undertaker, Prichard talked about TNA’s struggles, WWE booking on the fly in the 1990s, and many other topics. To listen to the whole show, click here.
