Jim Ross Clarifies Comments About Vince McMahon Not Wanting To Sign Gail Kim

[unable to retrieve full-text content]

Jim Ross has posted a newblog over at JRsBarBQ.com in which he clarifies recent comments he made onThe Ross Report podcast that Vince McMahon was wary of signing Gail Kim due to her race. For the record, I am and have said on many occasions that Gail Kim is one of my ALL TIME favorite performers of any gender. Shes Canadian of Asian decent and a beautiful person inside and out. When pitching me hiring her, was I wrong to say that many men were attracted to Asian females I obviously should have used a better illustration to explain that point than mentioning Asian adult websites being revenue generators but it was merely to illustrate my point as unfortunate as it was in hindsight. My problem is that I am honest and have no issues admitting when I make an error in judgment, if one was made, but the web site point wasnt what got Gail hired in WWE. It was her ability in the ring and the fact that she did have a great look. She is a credit to any organization that shes affiliated with and id hire her again tomorrow if given the opportunity.

The war of words between Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte has begun…

Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte will clash for the British heavyweight title later this year and the insults are already flying.

Olympic champion Joshua (13-0-0-KO13) feels he has a score to settle with Whyte (14-0-0-KO10) after suffering a defeat to the Brixton fighter in the amateurs.

For his part, Whyte has been unhappy with Joshua’s criticism of his 2012-2014 drugs ban and is determined to teach him a lesson in the ring.

The pair have been at each other’s throats on social media and you can already cut the tension with a knife.

Chavez Jr wants top names

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr: Targeting quick return to the top

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has called out Andre Ward, Gennady Golovkin and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez prior to facing Marcos Reyes on July 18.

The 29-year-old (48-2-1-KO32) is looking to rebuild his career after being stopped in the ninth by Andrzej Fonfara in April but retains confidence in his ability.

Having fought Fonfara at light-heavyweight, it seems unlikely Chavez Jr will return to middleweight, where he was once WBC champion – but named Golovkin and Alvarez as potential opponents anyway in the hope they’ll be prepared to step up.

In an interview reported on boxing247.com, Chavez Jr said: “For me, I’d like to fight Ward, Golovkin or in a lesser way Canelo.

“Why? Me and Golovkin would make a war, the way we fight for the fans. Me and Canelo I think too (is) a great fight. Me and Andre Ward is more boxing but it’s great for boxing because he won a gold medal and he’s one of the best fighters in the world.

I think a fight with Golovkin at 168. Come to my weight, fight at 168. I think I’ll have a problem at (making) 160.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr

“I think a fight with Golovkin at 168. Come to my weight, fight at 168. I think I’ll have a problem at (making) 160.

“I see in the last Golovkin fight against Willie Monroe, that he was a little tired in the third and fourth rounds and I think the guy needs to look for better opposition. Now at 160 he don’t have opposition.

“He needs to fight Froch, Dirrell, these kind of fighters you know? I think he’s very careful with his opponents you know?”

Nelson: A battle of Britain

Anthony Joshua will face long-time rival Dillian Whyte

Anthony Joshua will face long-time rival Dillian Whyte

Anthony Joshua facing Dillian Whyte for the British heavyweight title later this year is intriguing for all sorts of reasons, says Johnny Nelson.

So, the grudge match showdown we all wanted to see has been confirmed and it’s going to be a momentous night for British boxing one way or the other.

Domestically, we had Gary Mason and Frank Bruno, who were friends but never fought each other. That was a massive European fight and the animosity built up. Now, you’ve got Anthony Joshua unbeaten in 13 fights, Dillian Whyte unbeaten in 14 and Whyte beat him as an amateur.

Dillian explained the spat between them in the Wladimir Klitschko camp so you know there’s a bit of needle and a bit of spite there. Interestingly, they’re both at the same stage of their career.

Obviously, Joshua has had the leapfrog effect from the Olympic gold medal so you can understand Whyte being a bit bitter and wanting to make a statement. Joshua, meanwhile, has to get revenge. No matter what he says, this is his hardest fight as a professional because it’s personal.

Joshua has been in with Whyte back when he was a novice but he’s more of a man now, so it’s a case of who’s grown up faster? I know Whyte is confident and thinks he can do it again but Joshua has grown in confidence. It’s risky for Joshua and this fight will tell us how far he’s come.

You can understand Whyte’s bitterness. He’s thinking he beat this guy as an amateur, I’ve had more fights and won them all. Why is this guy in the sunshine and I’m in the dark?

Johnny Nelson

You can understand Whyte’s bitterness. He’s thinking ‘I beat this guy as an amateur, have had more fights and won them all. Why is this guy in the sunshine and I’m in the dark?’ There will be professional jealousy there because it’s human nature.

Whyte has slid under the radar. Yes he got the two-year ban. He’s the one people are trying to ignore but he’s a force to be reckoned with and he’s somebody you now can’t ignore. It’s got to the stage where they’ve got to put up or shut up.

Whyte is a nice guy. He can fight, though, and he’s very confident. You’ve got Joshua, who has had the razzmatazz of turning pro with a helping hand, and then Whyte doing it the ‘blue collar’ way of getting the wins but not getting the credit as far as he’s concerned.

The British title is one of the most prestigious titles you can have and it means something. They’re both unbeaten and can potentially go further on the world scene. If you look at our heavyweight scene domestically, there are more good domestic fights out there with David Price, Tyson Fury, Gary Cornish and so forth.

I think Joshua’s mask will slip. We’ve seen it one or two times when we’ve seen his nasty side and I actually like that. He’s a nice guy who comes across well but it’s good to see his nasty side because when he goes up in levels – like here – we will see spite from both fighters.

I didn’t mature mentally until I was in my mid to late twenties and then you had the likes of Naseem Hamed and Ryan Rhodes who were men in the ring at 19. Joshua has matured physically and mentally too but he’s got to prove it against Whyte.

I think Whyte has a chance. I don’t think he’ll win but of all Joshua’s opponents, Whyte is the one with the most chance of actually beating him.
