Sting Talks Possibly Appearing On Screen For WWE, WWE 2K15 Promo, Not Joining WWE Sooner

Source: Grantland

Grantland has an interview with Sting, who discussed appearing in WWE 2K15. Here are just a few highlights:

If he will appear onscreen for WWE:

“I’ll just say that I’m all in and very willing to participate. Believe me.”

The response to the WWE 2K15 promo:

“One of the interesting things I read about the promo video was that for anybody who thought the generational gap would be not in Sting’s favor, well, we can put that to rest. The way the crowd reacted was amazing — and even the younger kids who don’t know who I am. The painted face, that video — I’m the sort of guy who’s really hard to please, but when I saw that video, with the violins playing, it was great.”

If he wishes that he would have been a part of WWE sooner:

“Yeah, you know what they say about hindsight. I can look back now and wonder why I didn’t do this earlier. But it is what it is, and I’m excited right now. It’s like Vince used to say every time I came close to signing but never did: “Don’t forget to cross your t’s and dot your i’s, and someday we’ll do business together.” And here we are. It’s a video game, but that’s for starters, and we’ll see how it develops from here. I’m glad it turned out the way it did.”

Sting also discussed past negotiations with WWE, wanting a match with The Undertaker, Ultimate Warrior memories and much more. You can check out the full interview by clicking here.

Lots Of Backstage Praise For WWE’s Recent Live Event At Madison Square Garden + More News

Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

The recent WWE live event in Madison Square Garden in New York on July 12 is getting a lot of positive reaction. It’s one of the few non-televised events that Vince McMahon attends. It’s being called important because it featured the main roster debuts of Charlotte and Sasha Banks, the return of Ric Flair to the WWE and having both John Cena and Bray Wyatt fly in for the main event after working a show in Tokyo. The show brought in 12,000 fans, which is normal for the venue.

Also, tickets for the traditional post-Christmas show on December 26 are selling very quickly.

ORIGINAL: Bray Wyatt earned the respect of the WWE locker room (including his peers and the legends who work as producers) for how he handled himself backstage at the live event in Madison Square Garden. Wyatt was busted open “the hard way” by a punch to the face from Ric Flair. It left a cut that needed a lot of work to cover up for RAW. Wyatt was “light-hearted” and cool about the ordeal, which impressed many people backstage.

While Wyatt is early in his career and is not quite a top act yet, many believe he’s on the right track.

Kurt Angle Says He Definitely Wants To Return To WWE, What Does The Future Hold?, And More News

Transcript Credit: Haydn Gleed and Prowrestling.net

Kurt Angle recently appeared on Jim Ross’ podcast, here are the highlights…

Would Angle be interested in returning to the WWE?: “Without a doubt, it’s hard in the business now, you really want security, not that I’m hurting financially, TNA has treated me well, but nobody is allowed to talk. I can’t approach WWE right now, not under my contract, I believe there was a lawsuit a couple of years ago. I can’t really go there and meet with Vince or Triple H or Stephanie, it’s almost like if I wait out my contract and talk to them then, do I know if they are interested? They really haven’t told me, can I call somebody to ask somebody, I’m not going to get a complete 100 percent answer. So, are they interested? If they are, how do I find out? I don’t know. So do I sign with TNA? I could sign tomorrow.”

On how things have been in TNA recently and the impact of John Gaburick: “This past year has been a really tough roller coaster ride for me. Six months ago I would have told you, yes, I’m going back to WWE, I’m tired of this crap. I didn’t like the way I was being booked. A guy named John Gaburick came into TNA and he’s been doing things a lot better, it’s hard for him as he has a lot hats right now. He is a hard worker and he knows what he’s doing, and I have a great relationship with him. I have a great relationship with Dixie (Carter), from financial points to communication, but at the same time I got tired of the way I was being booked and I just wanted out. This past six months I kinda looked at it and said it’s not so bad, let me see if I can really help this company.”

Would the WWE medical testing be an issue: “Not at this point. A year ago, yes. I was under a lot of doctor prescription, but still, I was taking pain killers, I was taking Xanax, and drinking alcohol – not that that’s illegal, but I got myself into a lot of trouble. It was time for me to go clean, it wasn’t just for me but for my family, it was about my career, I’ve been clean and sober for 11 months now, and I enjoy it. I have a better time with my family, I’m more clear minded, I’m listening to my body. As for the physical, I’ve seen and heard rumors – Kurt Angle can’t pass the physical, gosh dang, I don’t have a problem passing the physical. My neck has no issues. Yeah, my knee I’ve just had it done, but I’m going bounce back. I already know right now with my progression, I’m going to be just fine. There isn’t a physical I won’t pass. I will pass it. The drug testing? I’m clean, I’m not taking anything, so I don’t really have anything to be afraid of.”

What he believes led to the Benoit family tragedy: “It’s hard, you try to think about it, you try to think how was his marriage, was he really that affected by his wrestling? I didn’t see it, and for WWE to have take any kind of blame for Chris’s decision, for whatever reason he did it, I think that’s a shame. I don’t think WWE is at fault. I believe that, whatever Chris did, whatever issues he had, I believe it was from relationship standards. I’m not saying that, I would never even thought that Chris would have think about doing something like that. I’m not a doctor. I’m not a professional, I don’t know why he did it. Whether he had head trauma or whatever it is, all I know Chris seemed to be okay. He didn’t have any health issues that you could see.”

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross Discusses A Possible TNA Debut, Commentating With CM Punk?

Jim Ross was recently interviewed by Between The Ropes, here are the highlights…

Following up on a recent question asked to him on Twitter if he would be open to broadcasting for TNA Wrestling and him saying ‘never say never’: “Well, it’s kind of far-fetched it the sense that A) those discussions aren’t happening. I don’t have any desire to get back into the weekly grind of pro wrestling. Or the weekly grind of anything other than this podcast is weekly. I could do it from home if I wanted to. But I enjoy doing it at the radio station and I enjoy having a destination, to go to work, prepare. I enjoy it. I think when you’re an independent contract as I am, and you’re a freelance talent as I am, by in-large, you don’t want to say ‘I’m never doing that’ because someone can come along and make you an offer that is really better than you dreamer you would ever get. It’s not likely at all. I’m not looking at that direction but I don’t think it’s very smart to say I’ll never do that. It would take an extraordinary deal because I don’t know why I would be excited about replacing one of two guys that I like. You don’t get that many friends in the wrestling business that stick with you through thick and thin. You get a lot fewer calls when you can’t help somebody or can’t do something for them. And I don’t know if I would feel comfortable about of upsetting the team of Mike (Tenay) and Taz. As I sit here, I don’t feel right about that.”

On possibly working with CM Punk on broadcasts: “I’m not saying I’ll never do wrestling again. I did my podcast this week and said you know, crazy idea what if CM Punk and I joined forces and made a broadcast team and did an internet pay-per-view for a New Japan show. Something completely off the tracks. An not do it in a studio but go to Tokyo or go wherever the event was held. Be there as the English speaking crew. We might be the version of the Spanish announce table. And I just threw that out there and know I’ve got all kinds of people ‘oh, when are you and CM Punk. when did you talk to Phil’. Well, I haven’t talked to Phil. I made it clear on the podcast this is fantasy booking. I said this will get people talking. Well, here’s a good one for you. This will get people talking. Watch how this works. And then I laid it out: New Japan is doing these pay-per-views and they want to air them in the States. They’re inexpensive and all this good stuff. CM Punk is going to be available to do some stuff one of these days. And I’d love to work with him as the analyst of a pro wrestling match or a MMA fight.”

Also read: Chris Jericho: “If I Never Wrestle Again It Won’t Bother Me”

If he thinks he’ll be broadcasting MMA in the near future: “I don’t have any idea. I’ve thrown it out there. That’s what you have agents. I got two of them. They’re both talking different deals so I don’t know. I’m interested the door is open so we’ll see who walks through if anybody.”

On him starting work on his book: “Just this week, we’re starting to do some serious work on my autobiography. And I’m doing it differently than people would say is probably customary. I don’t have a book deal. I turned down book deals from a lot of places. I decided I want to write the book I believe to be true and honest, entertaining, eye-opening and more than just wrestling headlocks and screwjobs and stuff like that. So, I’m going to write the book. I’ve got a writing partner and we’re going to write the book the way that we want it. We’re figured up an ending place which right now is probably going to be when I came back from my second bout of Bell’s Palsy to call the first Rock – Austin WrestleMania main event. I’m thinking that would be the end. That would give us cause to write a second book that would bring in the Attitude Era, the Monday Night Wars, my role in the WWE and the corporate side and then having that third bout of Bell’s Palsy and then kind of getting futured and moving off Raw and moved to Smackdown. I think it give us plenty of material for the second book.
